In July 2013 Botlhale Boikanyo received the highest honor through an invitation to perform her tribute to Madiba at The Legacy of Hope Nelson Mandela’s Children’s Hospital Campaign Launch in New York. It was at this event that she was also named a ‘Legacy of Hope Youth Ambassador’ and she also officially joined an honored collection of honorary committee members such as – Dr Maya Angelou, Whoopi Goldberg, Sir Anthony Hopkins and Charlize Theron, among several others.
In 2014 she was honored to receive an award from Brand SA in recognition of her contribution to nation building. It was here that she was named a Brand SA Play your Part ambassador.
In 2015 she became the youngest award winner at the SAMA’s winning Best Traditional Music album category
In 2016 she received The Architects of society award from Joanne Ramagoshi Madieng’s: Women, The Real Architects of society awards ceremony
In 2017 she was named the South African Traditional Music Awards Brand Ambassador. A title that she held for 4 years.
In 2018 she was recognized with a South Africa Youth Award (SAYA) in the Arts and Entertainment category at the South African Youth Awards by the NYDA
In 2020 Botlhale was listed as one of SA Top 100 Youth under the ARTS AND Sports section by the SA Top 100 Ambassadors Awards
A passionate speaker and youth worker, Botlhale has inspired various young people, as she has been actively involved in many youth organizations and NGO work, using her voice to educate, inspire and advocate for causes close to her heart. She regularly runs workshops and sits on various panels engaging in dialogues around social issues affecting young people in South Africa.
Botlhale Boikanyo has also hosted television shows and live events. In 2021 she co-hosted TOMZ (Teenagers on a Mission) on SABC 1, and was one of the main hosts for the SATMA awards broadcasted on SABC 2. One of her highlights as an MC is hosting the Tshwane Purple Christmas live event at the Menlyn Mane Arena.
Botlhale developed her love for acting as a drama student in high school. She landed her professional acting debut in 2017 on ETV’s primetimes show – Scandal! A role that she played for 5 years. She has featured on various films both on television and cinema such as Lerato Weh and Magwinya money. In 2022 she landed leading roles in two films, the award winning short film The Deal and What About The Boys. Her theatre credits include productions such as Jozi Jo and Madibuseng the latter being staged at the Joburg Theatre.
Botlhale Boikanyo holds a BA in Motion Picture from AFDA, and is an ActorSpaces Alumni.
